FAQ
Frequently asked questions about Cosmo.
What is Cosmo?
Cosmo is an AI-native collaboration workspace that connects teams with their tools through MCP integrations, LLM orchestration, and shared workspaces.
What AI providers does Cosmo support?
Cosmo supports Anthropic, OpenAI, and Azure AI. You can switch between providers at any time.
What is MCP?
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the standard Cosmo uses to connect to external tools. It provides a consistent interface for AI to interact with services like Slack, GitHub, Google Drive, and more.
Billing & Plans
What plans does Cosmo offer?
Cosmo has four tiers:
- Free — personal use only; 1 member, 3 MCP connections, 200K tokens/day, no cloud sync
- Standard — $19/user/month; 1 member seat, 10 MCP connections, 2M tokens/user/day, cloud sync
- Premium — $39/user/month; unlimited members, 25 MCP connections, 10M tokens/user/day, audit log
- Enterprise — custom pricing; unlimited members, unlimited MCP connections, 10M tokens/user/day, SSO, BYO keys, custom billing
How does the free trial work?
Every new organization gets a 14-day free trial of the Standard plan with no credit card required. During the trial, all Standard features are available. When the trial ends, the organization converts to a paid Standard subscription if a payment method is on file — otherwise it reverts to the Free plan. You can downgrade to Free at any time during the trial from Settings → Billing.
What counts as a seat?
Every active organization member counts as one seat, regardless of role (Owner, Admin, Member, or Viewer). Pending invitations also count as seats — they reserve capacity before the invitee accepts. Revoking an invitation frees the seat immediately.
When am I charged for a new member?
For Standard and Premium plans, adding a member (or sending an invitation that reserves a seat) triggers a prorated charge for the remainder of the current billing period. Removing a member or revoking an invite reduces the seat count at the next billing cycle.
How do I upgrade or downgrade?
Go to Settings → Billing in the web app. Upgrades are immediate with prorated billing. Downgrades take effect at the end of the current billing period — you keep access to the higher plan until then.
What happens to my data if I downgrade to Free?
All your data is preserved — workspaces, artifacts, chat history, and MCP configs. Feature access adjusts to Free plan limits (1 member, 3 MCP connections, 200K tokens/day, no cloud sync). Nothing is deleted.
How do AI tokens work?
Token limits are per user, per day, resetting at midnight UTC. Each member has their own daily budget — heavy usage by one person doesn't affect others. A typical back-and-forth message uses a few thousand tokens; a deep research session with long context can use hundreds of thousands per turn.
Enterprise
How is Enterprise billing managed?
Enterprise plans are managed directly by the Cosmo team — they are not processed through Stripe. Seat counts, billing terms, and plan modifications are agreed upon contractually and applied by Cosmo ops. Your Billing tab shows the current seat allocation and usage.
How do I request more seats or plan changes?
Email support@getcosmo.app with your organization name, the requested change, and any relevant context (e.g., new team joining, contract reference). Changes are typically applied within one business day and are reflected in the Billing tab immediately.
What happens when our organization hits the seat limit?
New member invitations are blocked when your purchased seat count is reached. Existing members are unaffected. To invite new people you need to either:
- Remove a member or revoke a pending invitation to free a seat, or
- Contact support@getcosmo.app to increase your seat allocation
Do pending invitations count toward the Enterprise seat limit?
Yes. Pending invitations reserve a seat before the recipient accepts. This is consistent with how seats are billed — inviting someone creates a billing event. Revoking an invitation frees the seat immediately.
Can Enterprise organizations use their own AI API keys?
Yes. BYO API keys (Bring Your Own Key) is an Enterprise-only feature. You can supply your own Anthropic, OpenAI, or Azure AI keys so AI usage is billed directly to your accounts rather than against Cosmo's token quotas. Contact sales@getcosmo.app to get this configured.
Does Enterprise get unlimited AI tokens?
Enterprise organizations get 10M tokens per user per day — the same allocation as Premium. This supports sustained, intensive AI usage across your team. If your workflows require higher limits, contact support@getcosmo.app to discuss options.
Desktop App
Why does the desktop app open the web app for billing?
Billing management (upgrades, downgrades, payment methods, invoices) is handled entirely in the web app. This keeps sensitive payment flows in a browser context and ensures billing pages are always up to date without requiring desktop app updates.
How do I find my current plan in the desktop app?
Your current plan is shown as a badge in the sidebar next to your organization name. To manage billing, click your profile in the sidebar and select Manage organization — this opens the web app's Settings page.
