Signing In

How sign-in works on the web, including Google, new-device verification and two-factor codes.

Sign in at getcosmo.app/sign-in with Continue with Google or with your email and password. After signing in you'll land on the activation page, which checks your organization's subscription and hands you off to the desktop app.

Continue with Google

Continue with Google sits above the email and password fields, separated by an or divider. Click it, approve the Google consent screen, and Cosmo finishes the handshake on a brief "Finishing sign-in…" screen before dropping you on the activation page — the same place the password form leads.

Sign-in and sign-up offer the same two options, so an account created with Google is signed back in with Continue with Google. There is no password to remember, and no need to reset one you never set.

The button only appears on the first step. Once Cosmo has asked you for a verification code you're already inside a password attempt, so finish that step or use ← Back to return to the start.

Choosing Continue with Google with an account Cosmo has never seen creates the account rather than turning you away — you land on the activation page exactly as a new sign-up would.

Forgot your password?

Forgot password? sits on the same row as the Password label. It opens a self-service reset — no support ticket, and nothing to wait for:

  1. Enter your email address and click Send reset code. If you came from the sign-in page, the address you typed there is already filled in; click Use a different email to change it.
  2. Cosmo emails you a 6-digit code. If it has expired or never arrived, click Resend code for a fresh one.
  3. Enter the code, choose a new password, confirm it, and click Reset password.

You are signed in as soon as the reset completes and land on the activation page, the same place a normal sign-in leads. If your account has two-factor authentication, your password is already changed at that point — Cosmo just asks for one more code to finish signing you in.

The page says a code is on its way whether or not the address has an account. That is deliberate: telling you which addresses are registered would let anyone check whether a given person uses Cosmo. If no code arrives, check the address you typed.

Use ← Use a different email if you typed the wrong address, or Back to sign in to abandon the reset. The reset page works while you are signed out — that is the whole point of it. If you are already signed in on this browser, sign out first; the page will tell you so.

Leaving the sign-in screen

Both the sign-in and sign-up screens carry two links back to the landing page: the cosmo logo at the top and ← Back to home below the form. Use either one if you opened sign-in from the desktop app — or were sent there after signing out or when a session expired — and want to go back without restarting anything. You can move freely between Home, Sign in and Sign up at any point in the flow.

New device verification

The two sections below describe the email and password flow. Continue with Google goes through Google's own verification instead, so Cosmo's device-code step doesn't apply to it.

The first time you sign in from a browser Cosmo doesn't recognize, you'll be asked to verify the device:

  1. Enter your email and password as usual.
  2. Cosmo emails you a 6-digit verification code.
  3. Enter the code on the verification screen.

Once verified, the device is trusted — you won't be asked again on that browser unless you clear your cookies or sign in from somewhere new. This protects your account even if your password is compromised.

Two-factor authentication

If your account has two-factor authentication enabled, you'll be prompted for a second verification code after your password is accepted. The code is sent to your account email.

Troubleshooting

  • Signed up with Google and being asked for a password? You don't have one — use Continue with Google instead. Don't request a password reset for a password that was never set.
  • Didn't receive a code? Check your spam folder. Codes expire after a short window — use ← Back and sign in again to request a fresh one.
  • Button stuck on "Redirecting…"? The handoff to Google failed and the reason appears above the form. Click Continue with Google again to re-attempt.
  • Reset code not arriving? Check your spam folder, and check the address you typed — the page cannot tell you whether it has an account (see above). Codes expire; request a fresh one rather than reusing an old email.
  • Reset says your password is not strong enough? Choose a longer one. Cosmo also refuses passwords that have appeared in a known data breach.
  • "Unsupported step" error? Your account requires a sign-in method the web form doesn't support yet. Contact support.
