Organization details, the one-org rule, and deleting your organization.
The Settings tab under Organization shows your organization's details and — for owners — the controls to delete it.
Open it from the web dashboard at Organization → Settings.
Organization details
The top of the page shows your organization's name and slug. These are managed through your identity provider (Clerk) and reflected in Cosmo.
One organization at a time
Each user can have one active organization at a time. Cosmo restricts org creation so you can't accidentally scatter workspaces, members, and billing across multiple orgs.
If you already own an organization and try to create another, Cosmo blocks it and points you here to delete the existing one first. To switch to a fresh organization:
- Delete your current organization (below).
- Create the new one from the sign-in / activation flow.
Being invited to someone else's organization is unaffected — the limit is on organizations you own. You are only ever blocked from creating a new org while you still own one.
Deleting your organization
Deleting an organization is permanent and cannot be undone. It removes the org and all of its workspaces, members, and billing.
Only the organization OWNER sees the delete controls.
- Go to Organization → Settings.
- In the Delete this organization panel, click Delete org.
- Type the organization's exact name to confirm.
- Click Confirm delete.
When you confirm, Cosmo:
- Cancels billing — any active subscription is cancelled immediately (no further charges).
- Removes the identity-provider org so the deletion is final and the org can't be resurrected on your next sign-in.
- Deletes all org data — workspaces, members, invites, and connector configuration are removed via a database cascade.
After deletion you're returned to the activation screen, where you can create a new organization.
If the deletion can't fully complete (for example, a transient identity-provider outage), Cosmo does not partially delete your data — it leaves everything intact so you can safely retry. Your org data is only removed once the deletion is guaranteed to be final.
